ABOUT SANDPOINT SODA
Welcome!
My name is Diane Kuthy and I'm the Founder of Sandpoint Soda Company. I live on a 5 acre homestead with my husband and children in beautiful Sandpoint, ID.
For the past few years, my family and I have been working towards self-sufficiency in every area of our lives. For me, that included learning how to make as many things at home, from scratch, as possible. I started with sourdough (the gateway drug) and quickly expanded into getting a cow and making all of our own dairy products, learning how to raise & process our own meat, making condiments like mayo, vinegar, and ketchup, and cooking all of our meals from scratch.
Even after all of that, I still found that we were reliant upon the grocery store for one major treat---tasty beverages. So, I set out on a mission to make all of my families drinks from scratch.
We're not big fans of kombucha, but we do love fizzy drinks. Carbonation machines are cool, but I didn't want to be reliant upon fancy CO2 cartridges for our fizz. During my research, I learned about ginger bug starters and decided to make my own.
After a few weeks, I made a powerful ginger bug from scratch and made my first soda---a basic ginger beer. It. was. magical. We chugged the whole gallon in a day. I was hooked. I started making soda everyday and creating recipes to mimic classic soda flavors.
It wasn't long before the Sandpoint Soda Company was born.
I'm excited to share the skill of making homebrewed soda and I hope that you enjoy creating delicious drinks for your family as much as I do.
